Who Is The Man That Allegedly Tried To Kill A DEA Agent? Yes, He Is Still Alive




According to the Department of Public Safety, Kevin Sutherland, the inmate that was being transported by the DEA to the federal courthouse in downtown Hattiesburg, is still alive and is receiving treatment at a local hospital in Hattiesburg.


Born on October 13, Kevin Lamar Sutherland, a 50 year old white man from Lumberton, MS, was being housed at the Lamar County Sheriff's Department. Sutherland was shot by law enforcement after he allegedly stabbed a DEA Agent in the neck. Hattiesburg News has not verified this information.


Sutherland is the organizer of the 420 Festival Mississippi that was held in Lumberton, MS on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 100 Industrial Parkway Rd. The festival featured Hip Hop Superstar Fredo Bang. Sponsors included Hampton Inn and Suites, Cuevas Fish House in Purvis, MS, and Farm Bureau Insurance.


The Department of Safety has not confirmed whether the agent that Sutherland allegedly attempted to kill is still alive or not. The horrific incident happened just in front of Candance Bank in downtown Hattiesburg.
