Hattiesburg News is exclusively launching a "We Care Campaign" aimed at both uplifting and calming down fears in the community in response to recent murders and almost daily violence and shootings. The campaign features local community leaders from churches, local businesses, and organizations sharing a message of love, hoping to have an immediate impact on local neighborhoods.
Kids can't be kids because they are afraid to come outside and play as some witnessed Sunday's murder and others experience the terror of violence, including hearing gunshots almost daily.
Over the next 30 days, thousands of commercials will blast the airwaves with local community leaders delivering a special message of love which will air on tv, streaming platforms, a special edition of The Hattiesburg News Magazine and social media.
These special messages will air on some of the biggest networks doing some of the biggest moments in news, entertainment and sports including college football playoffs, NBA Basketball Games, NFL Football Games, holiday movies, and popular tv shows, as well as in between Youtube videos.
Tv networks include TNT, OWN, BET, CNN, MSNBC, VH1, HALLMARK, LIFETIME, ESPN, DISNEY, CARTOON NETWORK & more.
Streaming networks include Tubi, Apple Tv, Peacock, Playstation, Xbox, Hulu and many more.
1,000's of copies of a special edition of The Hattiesburg News Magazine will circulate throughout the Pine Belt with each leader having their own full color page with a special message to the community.
The goal is to make both kids and the community feel safe especially during the holidays. Kids are scared to go outside and play. Senior citizens are scared to even sit outside on their front porch just to take a fresh breath of air.
With local leaders stepping up to take back the community, many are hoping for an immediate impact such as a cease of shootings and violence in the community.
