Unemployment Checks Are Now At Least $400 A Week Including $2,400 or More In Back Pay

Struggling Mississippians now have help on the way as the state begins to distribute federal money issued a few weeks ago via executive order by President Trump.

Most Mississippians will now receive a minimum of $400 a week starting within the next few days as the governors office said the state has the money and is working hard to implement it in the system.

Not only will Mississippians receive at least $400 a week, they will also receive back pay for the weeks they have filed according to government officials familiar with MDES when money from the CARES Act ran out. All of this should be completed by Mid-September and flowing smoother.

However, there is a change. Everyone filing for unemployment is required to look for a job and must also enter in at least 3 work searches per week that includes where they've looked for a job, if over the phone, the place and phone number, if in person, who they spoken with, and out of the 3 entries, one of them must have kept your application or resume on file.
