Summer Fun: One of Hattiesburg Most Exciting Events Returns This Summer; The Hattiesburg Food Festiv

Hattiesburg will be filled with plenty of festivals and outdoor events over the next 8 weeks. But one of Hattiesburg's most exciting events returns to the Downtown Area this summer.

The much anticipated annual Hattiesburg Food Festival "Summer Edition" is set for June 22, 2019 at Chain Park, 910 E. 8th Street sponsored in part by the City of Hattiesburg.

From fried ribs to frozen chocolate dipped cheese cake on the stick, the annual event is expected to attract 1,000's of people together again this year as this year is expected to be the best year yet with live cooking shows, live entertainment, & a host of activities.

Hattiesburg Management Group, the firm organizing the event this year, says its desire is to take the premier event of the summer to the next level.

One of the ways it plans to do just that is by setting a diferent overall goal. This year's overall objective has nothing to do with the festival itself, but the community in which the festival takes place. The goal this year is to "End Hunger" in Hattiesburg by partnering with local restaurants, participants, and local non-profit organizations.

The firm says its developed a state of the art design which divides Chain Park into 3 central areas to accommodate the 1,000's of participants expected, The Main Area located on the left side of the park, The Senior Citizen Area located in the center of the park by the pavilion, and what it calls 'Kid's Town' located on the right side of the park.

So this means kids having fun in the Kid's Town, for instance, not only won't have access to acholic products on the completely opposite side of the park located in the Main Area, they won't even see it. Kid's Town is planned to be filled with lots of activities, rides, and food that kids love.

The firm says its made it easier and more convenient for its vendors as well. For example, vendors are allowed to keep 100% of their profit and there is no fee to access water or eletricity, although the latter may be limited.

Hattiesburg Managment Group says its planning for a massive crowd and after meeting with city officials, plans to have no more than 100 vendors at this year's event.

Vendor registration ends on May 31st. Anyone can signup to become a vendor. For more information, please call 601.589.2800
