Kendrick Graves, the owner of KG 's Auto Sales and KG's Urban Wear is speaking out against recent violence and murders that have plagued the Pine Belt Community as of late. While other community leaders remain noticeably silent, Kendrick is not afraid to say enough is enough.
Kendrick decided to answer the call that went out to local businesses and community leaders to stand up and speak out against violence, including recent murders and almost daily shootings in the local communities by joining and helping sponsor The "We Care Campaign" powered by Hattiesburg News, featuring local community and business leaders sending a message of love over the next 30 days blasting across tv, streaming and social platforms, in which he hopes will bring peace in the community so that at the very least, kids and senior citizens can feel safe enough to come outside again.
"Many of these communities that so much violence is happening in are also the communities where some of my best customer's live, so it's very important for me to let them know that I'm not here just for your money, I actually care about you and your kids," Kendrick told Hattiesburg News as he reflected on the news of shootings and murders in the Pine Belt.
Kendrick also told Hattiesburg News, "I can't be quiet! I've been in the streets. I've been a part of the gang life. I know what it feels like to go to prison because I been to prison. I changed my life around. Now look how over the past few years, all I do is give back to the community and try and help others prevent from making the same mistakes I did!"
The community service Kendrick is talking about has been seen all across social media. He's given back by helping feed the homeless at The Field House, a local shelter for the homeless in the Pine Belt, often giving them shoes and clothes to wear.
He's also been known to help single parents, giving their kids brand new shoes and clothes, countless time and time again. That's why his store is often filled with customers because they know just what he means to the community.
"This man will go out of his way to help anybody, Collins, Hattiesburg, Laurel it don't matter. You don't see no elected people but they want you to vote! You don't even see no local church doing nothing for people these days! You haven't heard from one so called Pastor but this man is out here running a business and taking care of the community. That's why all of my friends and neighborhood shop with him. He care about us," said Ashley Davis, one of K&G Urban Wear customers.
Kendrick's special 'We Care' commercial will air starting this weekend for the next 30 days. They will be featured on ESPN, HGTV, CNN, VH1, TLC, OWN, Tubi, Peacock, Apple TV and more networks.
